A Great Experience in Old Montreal Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere We stayed at the Hotel Ste. Paul on McGill in old Montreal - a two block walk from Gibby's. We were early and waited on a bench across from the restaurant on a beautiful October evening and watched the steady stream of customers leaving their cars with the parking attendants and heading into the restaurant. We had no problem with our reservation and were promptly shown to our table. The service was top notch. Our waiter was patient and recommended a wonderful Chilean red wine (Estampa) to go with our entrees of filet mignon and sirloin. HIgh praise for the waiter who neither hovered nor ignored us throughout the meal. Everything was paced perfectly - fresh bread, Gibby's salad and French onion soup and then if course, the entrees. This was a memorable meal in a historic and beautiful environment and one we won't soon forget. We plan to do this annually one our anniversary - this is just the place to go for upscale special events. I can't recommend this place highly enough! A fabulous place to bring out of towners! Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere I have had only incredible meals at Gibby's over the last twenty years! I can rave about the pickles, the salad- those delicious croutons..and the steaks, filet mignon, the scampis...the list goes on! We have had numerous family get togethers, reunions, and celebrated many a special occasions in this fine establishment! Kudos to your staff as well....always a pleasure to be served at this restaurant that really knows how to value each and every client with incredible service!!! Great Montreal Institution Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Great dining experience. I highly recommend it. The steaks are awesome, the fish is delicious and the desserts are decadent. Fine Dining at its BEST! Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Since I travel to Montreal every few months, I make sure that I vistit Gibby's for at least one meal. Their garlic pickles that they serve with warm bread and butter at the beginning of the meal are so good, I actually could just eat that (but they would kick me out I am sure). Standard meals include Gibby's salad and their house dressing, which is served super cold and is great. They serve a tidbit of sorbet between courses to cleanse the palate. I invariably order a Rib Steak and am never disappointed. It is pricey and you have to order all your side dishes a la carte, but it is always worth it if you can afford it!
