Very good food and service Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Went to Mahjongg last night with my family and had a great meal! We had shrimp with lobster sauce, stir fried pea sprouts with snow crab meat, hot and sour soup, pu pu platter. All delicious! Service was attentive and polite. I usually go to Mahjongg weekly for business luncheons which are great with their lunch specials. This was the first time for dinner, and I will definitely do it again! Good job, Mahjongg staff! Great Specials Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere I was at Mahjongg last night and they have in addition to the regular menu a special cantonese menu with great specials. You can even create your own menu at a very good value! Quality of food was very good with a very professional service. How things have change Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere I worked at Ruby Foo's in 1969 to 1979 as a cook in the american kitchen. It was 1st class 5 star at the time. How things have changed. Stay Clear of Mahjongg Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Stay clear of mahjongg restaurant! The food is mildly enjoyable but if you should order the special, be prepared to get fleeced. i ordered a lobster cantonese, expecting it to be, $30, $40 or even $50 dollars (i.e. double the price of the most expensive entree on the menu) Nope, $88 dollars for an entree.. in montreal, off decarie boul in a motel! Yes caveat emptor, I would never have expected this kind of bait and switch. obviously the staff knew what they were doing, when we inquired about the market price of the lobster, they got both sarcastic and defensive... stay away. For that price go someplace really nice and enjoy the food without the attitude and the prohibitive cost. NO SOUP FOR YOU! Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Went with my entire family to Mahjongg tonight... 11 people. The decor is pleasant, and a little strange since it is 'mixed' with another restaurant called DLux (same owner apparently). There is a decor change between the two restaurants, but no physical separation. All the food we ordered (there were too many dishes to mention) were very good, and seemed to be of high quality as far as Chinese goes. We all enjoyed the 11 dishes, 4 appetizers, but we ALL HATED the won ton, hot and sour and miso soups... there was not one person that finished. Worst of all, soups are sooo expensive when you are 11 people and the orders come individually instead of family style. I think our total bill was $325 (tip and tax, no alcohol) total, of which $50 was the lousy soups! As for the service, it was just ok, nothing notable. I would return, but next time, no soup... Elegant casual dining restaurant Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Mahjongg is nice and modern restaurant with a view on the pool. They will have a patio around the pool during summer! The food was very good and the service friendly. I loved the dipping sauces they served with the pu pu platter. Try the dim sum too there are delightful. Nice alternative to oriental Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere We had a nice meal! The sushi grade tuna salad was awesome. Just have to be careful with the wasabi!!! Nice place to bring clients. Great New Place Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Bistro Mahjongg on Decarie (in front of Orange Julep & next to Ruby Foo's)- Opened a few weeks ago. The entire family went and we all had to admit that it was a great place. It is basically a family oriented restaurant with the same clibre are Orchidee de Chine. Same top-notch standards but more everyday style. The space is well appointed with dark wood floors, jewel tones, cool lighting and overall very elegant. We saw couples and business men along with a table of women having a girls-night-out and families with children. We each sampled a martini to start, all excellent. The pu pu platter & dumplings were a fun appetizer. The garlic pepper beef was some of the best I`ve had and the greens with ginger were very fresh. They have the entire DLux dessert menu (the cafe is next door). Sky-high cakes and many types of cheesecakes available. Everything was so easy and yummy.
